President's Message An all round win-win By Jim Livermore, Club President W hat a fantastic week it was! e weatherman cooperated for the most part, the fans enjoyed the exciting play and the players and television commentators continued to rave about our course! Aside from the artistic success of the event, the financial spinoﬀ was remarkable. In addition to the economic impact in the community, over $1 million was raised for the various charities that are the beneficiaries of this year's event. Congratulations everyone! I want to say thank you to the members of the Tournament Committee and to the hundreds of volunteers for giving so freely of your time to make the 2012 RBC Canadian Open such a success. And, of course, I would be remiss in not thanking RBC and the many corporate sponsors and their customers—not to mention the tens of thousands of fans in attendance—for their continued support of the tournament and of golf in Canada. Once again this year, the management and staﬀ at the Hamil- 2 | TEESHOTS | FALL 2012 ton Golf and Country Club went above and beyond in the performance of the duties. eir "can do" attitude shone through and our customers le having enjoyed an exceptional experience. anks gang! Last but not least, I wish to express my gratitude to the members of HGCC for giving up their use of the club for the tournament period, and for putting up with the disruption caused by the setup and tear-down of the infrastructure needed to stage this event. Because of your selfless giving, the Greater Hamilton Area and the charity partners of the RBC Canadian Open are better oﬀ today. e members have since resumed playing, the day-to-day business of the Club has returned to normal and the course has quickly returned to its usual excellent state of conditioning. For many it seems as if the tournament is just a distant memory. But it was an exciting time, and the light will continue to shine on the grand old HGCC for some time to come!
